Getting into a Groove
Still, non-stop traveling and adding more projects. I’m back in Boise finishing up a video project now. It’s been a process to not procrastinate. Even just yesterday I’ve rearranged my room, organized files on my computer and took care of other paperwork or started new shows on Netflix all aside from my creative projects. My next goal is to make a creative workflow that I can be the most productive in. I’m realizing it’s super easy to take extra time to get back to people or even just to setup my work space with my laptop, headphones and whatever else I would need to start working. I know that I can be the most productive later at night, but I’m trying to transition to get more of my work done in the morning.
When I was in school I loved the days when I could schedule morning classes to be done by two or three in the afternoon. It just always felt like I still had a full day to do what I enjoy. The only down side to me was waking up early since I tend to stay up late whether I like that or not. I’ve since realized that the quicker mornings getting ready are worth the open afternoons and nights to grab lunch or drinks with friends and sit and actually enjoy a movie rather than edit photos during a family movie night.
With all this said I am able to work from home so it’s hard for me to feel rushed in the morning to where I have to get out of bed. This in turn ruins my schedule that I’d like to be on. When I was back in Nevada it was very easy to wake up hop in the shower and leave for a six-nine hour day at DST coffee. In Boise, I need to find this coffee shop, or creative place that I’m willing to go spend that much time in on paperwork, writing or editing days. So I’m pushing myself to wake up by the latest 8:30 AM every day (Except on a film with night shoots obviously) just so that I can get myself into a routine.
I believe that this will help me not only be creative, but enable me to expand my business and take on more jobs creating a freelancing environment for myself full time while still getting to do the things I love and enjoy with friends.
