Finishing out a project
Checking in for the week, keeping up with my sort of weekly posts. Currently, I have been fortunate enough to sit out on the beach in Capitola California on a little mental break from editing and the real world, as well as make a vacation office for editing at night. There’s a lot that’s been going along lately that I’ve been trying to put together for work and keep all of my affairs in order. I’ve been starting to budget out the rest of my year and plan projects accordingly. If anyone has any budgeting tips drop them in the comments, I could use some new methods.
I’m getting to the point where I’m getting more consistent work. I love it, but as I like to do all different kinds of work it can be a little much at times. I’m still editing a video project for a client that I have been working on for a while. Im enjoying this project, but it’s hard to stick to just this without coming up with other ideas in the process. One of the things I have the hardest time with is completing a project in its entirety before starting something new. This is where I get into trouble and end up juggling multiple tasks. Nothing is technically wrong with that, I just would prefer to have a more streamlined work flow. If anyone has any tools or tricks they think would be useful I would love to hear them if you email me or leave a comment.
My plan of action now is to just power through for as long as I can editing this video, and then pushing all my other projects or responsibilities until after this. I mean that in just making this my top priority so I can put my full attention to it. I don’t know why I felt the need to voice all that to my imaginary blog readers, but maybe if anyone reading this has difficulties with finishing projects like me they can at least know they’re not alone in that.
I hope anyone getting this knows this isn’t the biggest problem in the world for me, and if you struggle with it too, it will get accomplished. Everyone just has to put the time in and saw the wood to accomplish their projects. There’s no way to get into a better routine or make a better workflow for yourself unless you practice at it. This is a lesson I’m currently learning.
Next up is something I’m starting this week to just keep people up to date, and so that maybe if there are people reading this it’ll make me a little bit more accountable to push and accomplish all the projects I set out to take on. So without further hesitation here’s what I’m cooking. After I finish this video, crush the edit and get my client something they love, I’m going to start re-organizing my website photography page to be more categorized. I’m also going to Start to create a harvest wood burning collection to go in Artemisia Floral and Design Shop in Carson City Nevada. Finally, I’m expanding my reach by putting my photography services out there more with some new clients before I head back to Boise to work on a feature film.
All exciting things coming up, I’m looking forward to sharing the finished projects I’ll have finished editing soon. I also am going to start the development phase of a photography book I hope to link with musicians lyrics that I can donate all the money to a charity of your guys’ choice. If any of you are reading this that is. ha. ha. Anyways, I wanted to bring that up because with all my professional work aside I want to give myself more to my community and I’ve thought what skills do I have that can be applied to my service and I’d love to make an photography book where all the images can relate to a common theme and all the proceeds can go to a charity related to that theme. Thank you for your time reading this post, and letting me ramble. I’m just happy to be here, in Capitola California, and I’ll be posting sooner rather than later.
