Moving Changes Things, Kind of, Okay Well Not Really
So many options, so little money
Just kidding
I’m relocating for the time being to Nevada to save up some money, write some grant applications, and work on some passion projects in my home town. I’ll still be traveling a lot, but now it seems that this will be more dependent on money than how it was my money was more dependent on my travel earlier this year. Production for what I get called to has slowed down a bit this winter. I started getting into the film community a little bit all around, but this winter I feel that I spread myself thin and thus wasn’t able to build relationships up enough with one production crew to stick through the winter with them. I also am a beginner and understand I’ve got to go make my own things before I’m able to have a consistent influx of work.
Good News
I found out the first ever film I worked on “Like Love” will be at the Egyptian theatre in Boise, ID February 12th! I’m very excited for this premiere as it’s the first feature I’ve been a part of production at any level that I’ll get to see in a theatre.
I also found a producer for my short film untitled project. I’m excited to work with a good friend, but won’t say too much about it now. I also have gotten in the writing mood since coming back to Nevada and will hopefully wrap up my feature script and revise two of my shorts in the next week.
I also, in literally the last 10 minutes bought a photography backdrop frame. I’ve had the backdrop materials for headshots and product shoots for the longest time, but didn’t spend the money to just buy them already. The size of my new room I’m fortunate to have an editing station, wood burning station, as well as my bed, and a mini photography studio. Now… I just have to keep it clean.
I also have been wanting to build a mini camera cart for a while. My dad and I were cleaning out our shed and I found an old hose cart. which is already spray painted and will be made into a camera cart. I wish I had started video-taping the process, but either way I’m very excited about this.
I also will be starting to take more photography clients in Nevada now that I know I’ll be here for a while. I want to plan ahead from now on, but if any of you know me, that’s not my strongest characteristic.
I also found a film roll of my grandads from about 19 years ago.
This was huge for me because I love all of his photos and I was worried the film had been sitting too long to be developed. I took it to Idaho Camera and luckily they still were able to pull images. After a quick photo-shop color touch up I now have a film picture of myself which my grandad took 19 years ago along with some other random property shots. If you can’t tell by how muchI’m talking about this, It means a lot.
Up and Coming
I might’ve shared too much of this in the last section but oh well. What I have left to say that’s up and coming is some cover art I’m going to try and make, the camera cart, the photo essay, two short films (one a micro-short), and looking to get the youtube off the ground at the start of the next year.
I’m very excited and humbled coming back to Nevada that I am able to do so many great things I love and pursue my bigger goals from here.
If anyone has any connections to any lighting/ grip people in the Carson Valley/Tahoe/Reno area please email me or leave a comment because I’m looking to get some productions starting soon.
Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a great weekend. This post was a bit more about myself. I will start making certain posts about either Tech, story telling, relevant films, photography or more specified content.
