Kick Your Feet Up (But Keep Editing)

You’re not done yet

Today’s a “day off” from filming and I’m in a coffee shop putting more work on myself then usual. I don’t take it as a full day off because I’m putting other jobs on my plate so that I can keep moving. People that know me know that I hate sitting in idle. If I ever sit for too long I make a habit of being lazy and its much harder to break. That’s why no matter what it is I like to do something creative or productive in some way to my small business even on days off.

I’m not going to sit here and preach “No Days Off” because relaxing is important. If you’re always working 100% you’ll go mad fast. I keep busy, but on different levels. I’ll go from working on a shoot to maybe something more relaxing like sketching or wood burning. I can still sit in my pajamas and do these tasks, but i’m still being creative. I also love coffee shops so much. So I love coming to Form & Function in Boise, or Hyde Perk. In Nevada my go to is obviously DST Coffee. I’ll come to coffee shops on my day off because I enjoy coffee, the creative environment, and I can listen to music and write, or edit at my own pace or if it’s more of a business day do paperwork.

I just like getting out of the house on off days as well. I enjoy my bed too much to be productive if I stay home. I think one of my favorite things in life is just being out in the world in whatever community I’m in. I don’t have to be actively participating, but just being out in the world. My mentality on this came from high school when I would do nothing but stay home and watch TV after practice. I realized that what I enjoyed watching on TV would never occur for my own life if I never left the house.

To be active in the world is to push for live entertainment.

I’m just kind of rambling now, which I can do because of my free time I have today. I don’t know what you’re supposed to get out of this read today except maybe seeing what I think about on days off and realizing that days off don’t have to be lazy. You can change up your workflow to have easier days and harder days. Working for yourself lets you be as flexible as you want.
