Busy in Boise
This Picture’s from Nevada though
Back in Boise
And I’m back in Boise again! So if you’ve got creative projects or business ideas or any work I’d love to meet up!
The biggest part of this trip is to solidify some project ideas, see a movie in a theater, catch up with friends, and find the meaning of life. If I don’t find the meaning of life, well I guess that’s expected, but it would be nice. So I’ve got a photo shoot I’m excited for, some wood burning’s stenciled out and ready to start as well as trying to make a quick video project.
I’ll also try to upload those youtube videos and time-lapses while I’m in Boise. It’s snowing so I don’t have the excuse for being out riding my bike all day. Unless I’m out skiing I guess. Anyways I will be pushing myself to get so many things done because I spent my whole car ride to Boise (7 hours) thinking and overthinking on all of the things I’ve started and need to finish. So I’m determined to get them done and keep moving forward with projects. I don’t always have the best advice for people, but I will say if you’re feeling motivated get as much done as you can while you are feeling it, because you wont always be feeling it and will be lazy. So do the most while you’re feeling on top.
It’s a sad truth in a way, but I have found there’s not a way to be feeling good in a productive mindset all of the time. So really ride out the good times and put yourself out there in the world.
Positive mindsets when you work from home
Working from home is great and you’re on your own schedule and you can travel around if you want! Except you can be stuck in a room with yourself for too long.
I’m a person who thrives on being social, but people don’t always want to be around the smoke of wood burning. So I can be in a room for 8 hours at a time just me, music, and the occasional snack. It gets weird when you’re doing multiple orders a week and just kinda bummy because you’re sitting there for so long. If I owned my van and could be doing this out in the wild I don’t think that it would be nearly as bad. With all of that said there’s definitely things that I try to do to keep motivation and mental stability up.
I listen to comedy shows, I’ve seen more this last month than my entire life combined before that. I also just watch Netflix while I do this because it keeps my mind focused on that instead of circling. I also have found that occasionally just standing up and walking out of the room to refill a water makes the day feel a little less confined. It’s small but it has helped me in the past. Also get snacks, give yourself little rewards if you’re working for a long time on one project. Snacks can also be replaced with beer, but keep it classy. It’s sometimes hard to work with only pay coming at the end because it doesn’t feel as rewarding in the 9th hour when it’s just been you for a while and it hasn’t seemed to payoff yet.
With all of that said you’re creating. Take a second to realize how great that is in itself. If you’re getting paid to create something stop every now and then and realize that is pretty fucking awesome. Whether you’re editing, burning, painting, sketching, or whatever else if you’re doing what you enjoy it can feel long at times, but you’re now shoveling dirt endlessly. Stick to it and realize that things could be worse so don’t get down, but also realize you’ve got a way to go so there’s no point in stopping now. Push through and get it done because if you commit then the final project will be very much worth it. Just be happy to be here because everyday’s a blessing and you can choose to make the most of it.
