So much to do, and plenty of time
Don’t be afraid to Reach Out
Howdy
Lately there’s been a lot I’ve been starting. To anyone who has read this more than one time, or just knows me as a friend. You probably know I always have so many tabs open. I’m always starting things and then continuing to start more and more. I said last week that I would try to get more things finished before starting more. I did not do that. I started even more.
Why doing more’s okay this time
This time I have a lot more support. More people are interested in these projects which feels great. I know a lot of my projects are ambitious if I was trying to take them on one at a time let alone four all at once. So thank you so so much to all of the people who have been there to tell me they’re interested and encourage me on these. The more I’m taking on, the more it feels like I’m getting motivated to push through and finish these.
First off is writing. Finished up a short script and it’s ready for critique and it’s ready for the stages of pre-production I want to get done with camera. This is the 8mm film project to anyone who has heard me talk about it. Next up is a script in a dollar baby short story adaptation program. I’m very excited for these because they’ll be the ones that I get to have the most control over sooner.
The take away
To anyone reading this, I think this is the take away…
Talk about your interests and your projects. Talk about what kind of projects you’re passionate about to the people who you trust creatively. Reach out more to people who you look up to and tell them what you’re doing. Sometimes they’ll have advice or connections or just their interest in what you’re doing can be enough to motivate you to actually sit down and do it. Also though, don’t be annoying about it. Mention it and be a normal person without forcing the persons interest. You wont attract the right kind of people that way.
I have gotten so much more motivation from talking to people about what I’m doing and them being the slightest bit interested in seeing how it turns out. I think that this makes me want to do so much more with my projects and keep increasing the scope. I need to be realistic, but you need a lot of motivation if you’re going to be ambitious.
Also, I’m in no way there yet, but if you make it to the stage where people look up to you or want your advice, show interest in them as an artist or their projects. It doesn’t have to be a lot, but just a little bit can add so much motivation to someone just knowing there’s interest.
Finally
I made my first international sale for my wood burnings! Super cool and unexpected. Thanks to Ryan Taylor for putting a picture of one of my pieces online that ended up getting me some more attention. I’ve also been going for a run everyday, which helps for a good start to the day, and I had a really good sour ale this week. “2 Dope Boys” sour I believe it was called if anyone’s interested.
I’m just happy to be here. I’m going to be traveling a lot coming up and reaching me will get hectic, as most of you know. I’l still post next week, but be warned if you want to collaborate reach out soon. I
