Focus up (not just as an AC)
If any of you are actresses / actors email me.
Dilemma
I am doing such a variety of things.
Don’t get me wrong, I love being involved in so many creative outlets. I will still be wood burning, taking photos, designing tattoos, but mainly I want to focus on film. So I will be doing all these things just one much more than the others.
Solution
I’m going to ramp back on wood burnings and only do either bigger portrait pieces or things to specifically promote my film work. I will be upping my prices as well. I have began making my style much more detailed and the demand is rising as well as the time I put in. It takes so much time away from writing scripts or editing or actually filming so I will be ramping that back. I also think photography will keep consistent as well because it will be a good medium to keep improving on my edits.
I think that my main goals to become a screenwriter and work in the camera department will only be achieved if I focus much more on those than anything else. So hit me up with any video projects you guys have got.
What you can do
Focus on what you want. I’ve been getting by with all the things I’ve been doing, but it’s been building a wide foundation and helping me move horizontally in many many directions. Everyone needs to have a great foundation, but at some point you need to build stairs. So if anyone’s reading this, get your base first. Experiment with creative outlets you like, but push yourself. Focus hard on one thing and keep working at it.
I often think of it as Mario vs. Luigi. Mario can be average across the board and be great, but Luigi might be better with speed. Be Mario for some ground work, but if you’re always leveled out across the board you wont be noticed in your field.
Double 8 Film
I am looking to shoot just a 2 minute double 8 film super short to be precise with my film knowledge. I think this will challenge me to make an effort for exact cinematography, and concise story telling. I’m going to sell some wood burning’s coming up for a bit more than I usually would for the specific reason of fundraising the expenses of the film and development process. Anyone wishing to help support me can buy one of these wood burning pieces. I’ll put more up about this coming up, but it should be a fantastic project. Very artistic and involved as far as the filmmaking process goes. I’ll be shooting on Fomapan Double 8 film stock with a Hanimex 8EE camera.
Wish me luck in the tests as I figure out the camera, and the development and splitting process of double 8 Film. I’ll be sure to share the results of the test and let you guys know the struggles and successes. Wanting to be more involved in film, might as well jump into an independent short film on actual film. I will also release the script to anyone looking to support me and this project through purchasing the wood burnings.
